• Ascophyllum nodosum is widely used because of its beneficial effects on oral and dental health. Seaweed is known to contain a large number of important components. Some of these components could influence the deposition of dental plaque, prevent the attachment of bacteria, and prevent the formation of tartar.
• Curcuma longa or turmeric contains curcumin. Curcumin possesses a broad spectrum of biological actions, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties, making curcumin ideally suited to address a multifactorial dental condition with infectious and inflammatory components.
• Echinacea angustifolia: Echinacea is best known for its beneficial and stimulating effects on the immune system and its preventive and therapeutic effects on infections. It is only recently that the antimicrobial properties of Echinacea have also been recognized. Echinacea angustifolia is said to help with oral complaints and the relief of toothaches. Studies have shown that Echinacea can affect the severity and duration of gum inflammation (gingivitis) and dental plaque.
